Sweden — Study & Work Immigration Guide

Sweden is the largest Nordic country by both area and population, and a popular destination for international students.

English proficiency is very high in Sweden. If you only speak English, you still have a decent chance of finding work in engineering and tech fields. Major Swedish companies include Ericsson and Spotify.

Immigration path: Find a job → work permit → meet residency requirements → apply for PR. Swedish is considered one of the easier Nordic languages to learn.

Welfare is comparable to other Nordic countries (though pensions are not as generous as Norway’s). Public education is free, and healthcare is universal.

Notable universities: Lund University, Uppsala University, and Stockholm University.

Best suited for: Engineering and tech professionals with good English skills who want to live and work in Scandinavia.

Note: Sweden has been tightening its immigration policies in recent years, so plan ahead.
