Browse through Europe’s immigration destinations, and you’ll notice something odd: Ireland barely appears in most people’s discussions. Yet the more you learn about it, the more you realize it might be Europe’s most underrated option.
Let’s start with the obvious advantage: Ireland is English-speaking. No need to spend years learning a new language. Your IELTS score works, your interviews are in English, daily life has no language barrier. Compared to Germany, France, or the Netherlands, Ireland saves you an enormous head start.
Public safety is among the best in Europe. The reason is simple: Ireland is an EU member but NOT in the Schengen zone — one of only two exceptions (along with Cyprus). Being outside Schengen means Ireland isn’t subject to the EU’s refugee redistribution policies, avoiding the security challenges that have affected many continental countries.
Economically, Ireland is called the “Silicon Valley of Europe.” Google, Apple, Meta, and Intel have European headquarters here. Nine of the world’s top ten pharmaceutical companies have manufacturing facilities in Ireland. Good jobs are abundant, and salaries are among Europe’s highest.

The General Employment Permit requires about €36,000/year, with PR after 5 years.

If you speak English, have an engineering background, and want high-paying European jobs with fast-track PR — Ireland might be the best option most people haven’t discovered yet.
